The Hardware Behind Windows Azure
I wasn’t able to make it to PDC ‘09 this year (I’m not bitter at all. Nope. Not at all. Especially since everyone who went got a free Windows 7 laptop. Nope, not bitter at all). Thankfully, the #pdc09 tweets were flowing, pretty much giving me the play-by-play, and the live Channel 9 video broadcasts were great.
One of the most informative things I’ve seen is a post by Bill Evjen which details the hardware behind Windows Azure. Microsoft had one of the Azure data center “containers” set up at PDC, and the post takes you through it, all the way down to the cooling and humidity control.
It’s a fun read with lots of pictures. Thanks Bill!
